100 Years of Galt Arena Gardens, a History

David Menary is a member of our club. He is a well-known local journalist, author, artist, and poet, as well as a former newspaper sports editor and teacher.

He will share his work to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Galt Arena Gardens in his latest book, “100 Years of Galt Arena Gardens, a History”.

David is known to have a passion for uncovering ‘a good Canadian story.’

He was one of three founders of the Cambridge Sports Hall of Fame in 1996, along with Al Findlay and Cam Allan, and am still on the board. We’ve inducted more than 200 members, including some who are members of PROBUS.

Over the years, he won various newspaper awards including a Milt Dunnell Award for sports and another for a heritage feature story about Marion Tait.

He is also the author of the sports book 'Terrier Town: Summer of ’49', published in 2003 by Wilfrid Laurier University Press.

PERSONAL VIGNETTE: Also in this meeting, Keith Rivers will be delivering his personal vignette.

LUNCH BUNCH: After the meeting, all members are invited to have lunch (at their own cost) at a local restaurant. A great way to get to know your fellow members.
