Beginners welcome! This event is for all skill levels, we have them all! Win or lose, a fun event!

This is a fun event to bring a friend with you as your guest, a great way to introduce them to our club!

Come at 11:30 (doors open) and go directly to the billiards tables. Lunch is optional and can be ordered while playing billiards.

No need to register for this event, just come. There is no cost from PROBUS, but you will pay at Chicago Billiards $12 per person for billiards and the cost of any food or beverages purchased.

Join us for a festive Christmas Gala featuring a delicious lunch, live music and holiday cheer.

Our Christmas Gala is one of the biggest highlights of the PROBUS year, a wonderful opportunity to come together with fellow members and friends to celebrate the holiday season.

It's a special occasion to enjoy good food, great company and outstanding entertainment, while sharing the friendship and camaraderie that make our club so special.

Our musical entertainment features award-winning pianist Nancy Walker and vocalist John Neudorf.

Meet The Musicians at Our Christmas Gala

Nancy Walker – Pianist Award-winning pianist and composer Nancy Walker has earned national recognition, including the Montréal Jazz Festival’s Grand Prix de Jazz, Keyboardist of the Year honours, and two JUNO nominations. She has performed and recorded with many leading artists, and her 2025 album Deeper Down, featuring eight original compositions, received a 2026 JUNO nomination.	John Neudorf – Vocals Vocalist John Neudorf brings more than three decades of musical experience, blending jazz and blues with warm phrasing, inventive scat singing and an engaging stage presence. His latest album, Here’s To Life, features both original songs and distinctive interpretations, with several tracks receiving regular airplay on JazzFM.
Clark Johnston - Bass Bassist Clark Johnston has performed with many of Canada’s leading jazz artists, including Diana Panton, Mike Murley, Reg Schwager, Don Thompson, Peter Appleyard and the Shuffle Demons. An accomplished composer and recording artist, Clark holds a master’s degree in Music Composition and currently teaches at McMaster University and Hillfield Strathallan College.	Joel Haynes – Drums Burlington-born drummer Joel Haynes has performed at major jazz festivals throughout North America, Europe, Asia, South America, Australia and the Caribbean. A National Jazz Award nominee, he has appeared on more than 30 recordings and has worked with acclaimed artists including Seamus Blake, Russell Malone, David Braid and Denzel Sinclaire.

Toronto Blue Jays vs Baltimore Orioles (May 16, 2027)

Cost is $TBA for a game ticket and transportation by passenger motorcoach to and from the Cambridge Portuguese Club. A fun afternoon outing to watch the Toronto Blue Jays play the Baltimore Orioles.

Arrangements:

10:30 am - park at the Portuguese Club at 870 Townline Road, meet the motorcoach there
11:00 am - motorcoach departs, drops us off right at Rogers Centre, lunch on your own at the stadium
1:37 pm - game start time
right after the game ends, the motorcoach takes us home with an estimated Cambridge ETA around 6:00 PM, depending on the length of the game and traffic

Accessibility: There is a short walk from the bus to the ballpark from across the street and there are 10-15 steps down to reach your seats

The best ball (scramble) format makes this a fun event for golfers of all skill levels. PROBUS members are welcome to bring guests. This is a good way to introduce a friend to the fellowship of PROBUS.

The program is similar to past years: 18 holes of golf followed by a dinner and “awards” ceremony with prize exchange.

Post game meal will be a barbecued steak dinner with baked potato, Caesar salad, dinner rolls and butter Coffee and Tea, with dessert.
Payment will be required in advance by July 30th to confirm your registration. This is necessary to enable planning the logistics of the event for everyone’s enjoyment.

The price for green fees with one half cart rental and the dinner includes taxes and tip. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are extra.

For those who would like to participate in the fellowship of the dinner only, the fee will be $TBA.

To participate in the prize table, 'bring a prize and win a prize', just bring a prize with a minimum $25 value for the prize table. Then you are eligible to choose a prize with your team as scores are announced.

Your group will Tee off from the 1st Tee. The first foursome at approximately 12:00-12:30 PM, and each foursome every 9 minutes thereafter. Your specific tee time and details of the day’s program will be advised prior to the event.
